Community Guidelines
Last updated: October 20, 2026
Essyntia is a place for thoughtful conversation between adults. These guidelines explain what is not allowed, how to report it, and what we do when someone breaks them. They apply to posts, comments, profiles, groups, direct messages, images, videos and links.
1. Respect and safety
The following are not allowed:
- Harassment, bullying, threats or incitement to harm others
- Hate speech or attacks based on origin, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other protected characteristic
- Promotion of terrorism, violent extremism or criminal organisations
- Encouraging self-harm, suicide or eating disorders
- Exposing other people's personal information (doxxing) or sharing intimate images without consent
2. Sexual content and child protection
Essyntia is for adults 18 and over. We have zero tolerance for any content that sexualises minors or facilitates their exploitation or abuse; we remove it, close the accounts involved, and report it to the relevant authorities. Pornography and sexually explicit content are not allowed either. See our Child Safety Standards at essyntia.com/child-safety.
3. Violence and graphic content
Content that glorifies violence, and graphic images or videos of death, serious injury or cruelty to people or animals, is not allowed. News or documentary content may be removed if it is gratuitously graphic.
4. Honesty and integrity
The following are not allowed:
- Misinformation that can cause real-world harm (health, elections, emergencies)
- Impersonating people, brands or organisations
- Spam, scams, fraudulent schemes or deceptive links
- Manipulating reactions, evaluations or Essence with multiple or coordinated accounts
5. Images, videos and links
Only share photos and videos that you own or have permission to post, and respect the privacy of the people in them. Don't re-upload other people's videos without permission: to share a video from YouTube, TikTok or another platform, paste the link. Videos are subject to per-account length and size limits. Don't share malicious files or links meant to deceive or harm people.
6. Reporting and blocking
You can report any post, comment, profile or group from its “···” menu. Direct messages are end-to-end encrypted and we cannot read them: if someone bothers you by message, report their profile and block them. You can block any account from its profile or from the menu of its posts: you will stop seeing each other's content and won't be able to interact or message each other. Manage your blocks in Settings → Privacy.
7. Moderation and consequences
The Essyntia team reviews reports and may hide or remove content (including its files), restore it if it was hidden by mistake, remove extended video permissions, suspend accounts (they can read and manage their account but not post or interact) or close them. When enabled, automated review of text may temporarily hide clearly serious content, such as threats or sexual content involving minors, until a person reviews it; on its own it never suspends or closes accounts or removes content. We let you know when we hide your content or suspend your account and, when it is safe to do so, tell you why. If you think we got it wrong, request a review in Settings → Moderation and appeals (also while your account is suspended): a person reviews it, never the automated review, and we tell you the result. For removed content, or if you can't use the app, write to legal@essyntia.com.
